Did you know?

The white-winged duck is discreet, preferring to perch under forest cover during the day. It feeds at watering holes or in rice fields, preferably at dawn and dusk. This bird is monogamous, usually observed in pairs or small family groups.

Threats and conservation

Over the past 30 years, this species has undergone a rapid and severe decline, largely attributed to deforestation and habitat fragmentation. In addition, it is a victim of poaching and egg collection.
